Summary :

  • The position requires performing a variety of technical procedures involved in the procurement, processing and evaluation of patient specimens for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease; perform routine clerical and technical procedures including specimen collection; clinical specimen preparation and processing for analysis and dispatch, patient registration and order entry;

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Receives patient samples into the laboratory for testing and reviews laboratory orders and samples for acceptability.
  • Ensures that the correct laboratory test are ordered and placed into the laboratory information system, ensuring required information is entered.
  • Handles and prepares samples for clinical testing and delivers to correct laboratory department.
  • Performs routine and complex laboratory procedures with accuracy and precision, following standard procedures and recognizes deviation from expected results.
  • Operates a variety of laboratory equipment.
  • Performs and documents routine instrument maintenance and quality control for department.
  • Recognizes factors that affect measurements and results and takes appropriate action.
  • Compiles, tabulates, and reports laboratory data analysis
  • Adheres to internal controls established for department
  • Adheres to all safety protocols in laboratory area
