Instructor Qualifications

Minimum Instructor Qualifications:

1. Registered Dental Hygienist

2. Graduate of a dental hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation

3. Associate degree in Dental Hygiene

4. Baccalaureate degree in any field

5. Current active dental hygiene license in the state of Oregon

6. Current Health Care Provider CPR/BLS

7. Oregon Local Anesthesia Endorsement

8. Oregon Nitrous Oxide Permit

9. Minimum of three years of full time experience as a clinical dental hygienist (or equivalent of 3500 hours within the last 5 years)

10. Current immunization records: Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR), Varicella, Hepatitis B, TB Test, Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis (Tdap), Influenza, COVID-19 Vaccination

Preferred Instructor Qualifications:

· Master’s degree in a field related to education or dental hygiene

· Experience teaching in a dental hygiene program

· Expanded Practice Permit

· Restorative Functions Endorsement

· Certified Dental Assistant (CDA)credential

· Clinical experience as a dental assistant

· Active membership in the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA)

These positions are included in the bargaining agreement between Portland Community College and the Portland Community College Faculty Federation Employees.

Part-time Faculty Compensation at PCC

Newly hired Part-time Faculty at PCC will generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule.

Hourly rates are determine based upon the type of course taught (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab).

Notice of the Availability of the Annual Security ReportPursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), you may view Portland Community College’s (PCC) most recent Annual Security Report (ASR) on the Department of Public Safety website. The ASR contains current security and safety-related policy disclosure statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information and resources, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains crime statistics for Clery Act crimes which occurred on PCC properties for the last three calendar years. Paper copies of the ASR are available upon request at all Department of Public Safety offices.
