Senior Design Engineer

A well-established manufacturer in the pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) industry is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join their team. This is a senior-level position requiring advanced technical expertise, strong problem-solving ability, and the capacity to work collaboratively across multiple departments.

Responsibilities

• Review customer drawings, specifications, and contracts to define project requirements.
• Perform calculations using MBS and other tools to design pre-engineered metal buildings and accessories.
• Oversee projects from concept through completion, ensuring adherence to building codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Conduct structural analysis and calculations to confirm the integrity and safety of designs.
• Collaborate with estimating on preliminary proposals and quotes.
• Partner with production to resolve design and manufacturing issues, and implement cost-saving strategies.
• Liaise across departments - including estimating, drafting, purchasing, and manufacturing - to maintain project alignment.
• Participate in design and engineering reviews, addressing customer inquiries and resolving design-related issues.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and standards.
• Provide guidance to junior engineers or drafters as needed.
• Report on project status, workload, and progress to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
• 5+ years of PEMB design engineering experience, including complex projects.
• Advanced proficiency with MBS; AutoCAD and other structural analysis tools strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of structural analysis and design principles.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Proactive approach to identifying and resolving challenges.
