At Horrocks, we believe that companies with strong values produce the best work, that our people are our greatest resource, and that we have a responsibility to better the communities where we live and work. As a Bridge Designer, you will be responsible for all aspects of the structural design, layout and plan production on large multi-discipline transportation projects. Projects will include single- and multi-span bridges, complex retaining walls, and require close coordination with other disciplines (roadway, drainage, MOT, etc). The ideal candidate will also have mentorship skills to lead and train junior design and drafting staff.
What are the core responsibilities for the role?
- Leading the design for large, multi-structure transportation projects
- Be enthusiastic, dedicated, and self-disciplined to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Prioritize work to meet various project requests and deadlines, answering to various engineers and project managers
- Develop Designs in Power InRoads, OpenRoads Designer, or AutoCAD Civil3D
- Produce accurate output with a keen eye for aesthetics
- Manage project data files from various sources
- Be proactive and responsive in effectively communicating with colleagues and clients, both in-person and virtually / remotely
- Training and mentorship of junior CAD staff
- Manage workspaces and develop plan sets in ORD, including sheet creation and plan set development
