Security Supervisor
The Security Supervisor is the working lead on shiftdirecting officers, coordinating patrols, managing incidents, and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for guests and associates. You'll enforce post orders and policies, mentor the team, liaise with other departments and public agencies, and keep accurate, timely documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Shift Leadership
- Open/close the department; conduct roll-calls/toolbox talks; assign posts/patrols and manage meal/rest breaks and coverage.
- Maintain radio discipline and situational awareness; serve as on-scene lead for incidents until relieved by management.
Operations & Prevention
- Oversee interior/exterior patrols, access control, key control, and visitor/vendor management.
- Monitor CCTV/VMS and alarms; verify alerts and direct responses; ensure secure handling of evidence/media.
Incident Response & Investigations
- Lead response to medical, fire, disturbance, theft, and facility emergencies; de-escalate and coordinate with EMS/law enforcement.
- Conduct preliminary investigations; gather statements, preserve evidence, and maintain chain-of-custody.
Compliance & Life Safety
- Ensure OSHA, fire code, and company policy compliance (egress checks, emergency lighting/extinguisher inspections).
- Support drills (evacuation, severe weather, active threat); document after-action items and follow-ups.
Documentation & Reporting
- Review and finalize Daily Activity Reports (DARs), incident reports, trespass notices, and pass-down logs for accuracy and completeness.
- Track KPIs: incident rate, response times, injury rate, and system uptime; escalate trends and risks.
People Leadership & Training
- Coach and mentor officers on customer service, de-escalation, report writing, and post orders; provide real-time feedback.
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, timekeeping, and performance input.
Cross-Functional & Vendor Coordination
- Partner with Front Office/Operations/Engineering/HR on investigations, service recovery, and special events/crowd management.
- Escort/oversee contractors; verify COIs and adherence to safety protocols.
Assets & Equipment
- Maintain inventory and condition of radios, body cams (if used), flashlights, first-aid/AED, and access credentials; initiate repairs/replacements.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or security/criminal justice coursework preferred.
- Experience: 3+ years in security, military, law enforcement, or loss prevention with 1+ year in a lead/supervisory role (hospitality/retail/venue/multi-site preferred).
- State/local guard license (as required) and valid driver's license (if operating company vehicles).
- Certifications: CPR/First Aid/AED required or within 60 days; FEMA ICS/NIMS and de-escalation training a plus.
- Proficient with CCTV/VMS, access control, incident reporting software, and Microsoft 365/Google Workspace.
- Excellent judgment, communication, and report-writing skills; calm under pressure; high integrity and confidentiality.
Physical Requirements
- Stand/walk for extended periods; frequent stair climbing and outdoor patrols in varying weather.
- Lift/push/pull up to 4050 lbs; rapid response in emergencies.
- Maintain professional appearance per uniform and grooming standards.
