The Head Teacher role is one that any teacher should be proud of as they cultivate an environment that stimulates the minds and grows a love of learning in future leaders.
Children’s House looking to hire positive and reliable individuals who have a love of teaching and are adaptable, caring, and team-oriented. Montessori experience and certification are required.
Our full-time compensation package includes employee contribution benefits such as health, PTO, a competitive rate of pay, and on-going professional development. Salary is based on an average of a 40 hour work week.
Responsibilities
- Maintain safety and general tidiness and cleanliness of the classroom, disinfecting materials and supplies.
- Develop a careful and creative program suitable for preschool children
- Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children
- Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
- Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments
- Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers or colors, do crafts etc.)
- Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
- Write monthly class newsletters & individual progress reports 2 times per school year
- Create a warm, friendly, supportive, and open relationship with parents / guardians through daily communication and demonstrated availability.
Skills
Children's House of Columbia has been a Montessori school serving the Columbia community for the past 50 years. We have a student population of about 80 children, ages 2-6 years old. Affiliated with AMS, full-time staff of 12.
We also provide the possibility to pursue further education through Montessori training to become Montessori certified. Columbia is a great town to live in with 110,000 residents, and three college campuses. We are located on campus at the University of Missouri. There are plenty of art, cultural and educational opportunities. We have music and film festivals, sports events, indoor and outdoor recreation facilities, and numerous trails and nature areas.
