General Description :
Early Intervention Assistants will be trained to conduct the Richmond Public Schools early intervention eligibility screening process in grade K-2. Early Intervention Assistants will receive required professional development and training prior to conducting academic interventions using research based methodology in reading and / or math in grades K-2.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Provides small group instruction.
- Communicates with school personnel and parents of children regarding reading and / or math level and rate of progress.
- Differentiates instruction based on assessment data.
- Upon request and availability; participates in team reviews concerning academic progress for students receiving services.
- Shares student data with applicable teachers and administration.
- Provides pre and post-assessment data to teachers and administrators.
- Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff and community.
- Maintains accurate records and documentation.
- Follows required procedures and practices outlined in training.
- Attends all required training.
- Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.
- Administers informal and formal assessments outlined in program.
- Evaluates and assesses student progress against instructional program objectives.
- Manages classroom organization.
Qualifications :
GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK : Duties performed typically in a school setting. Performs professional work providing teaching and / or training services to students. Work requires frequent standing, sitting, light lifting up to 10 pounds, walking, vocal communication for expressing or exchanging ideas, hearing to perceive information at a normal spoken word level and visual acuity for preparing and analyzing written or computer data.
