Howmet Aerospace is current looking for a Layout Inspector to join our Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) group in Hampton, Virginia. The available shift hours are 2nd shift, M-F 3pm-11pm or 3rd shift, M-F 11pm-7am (starts Sunday night) . Training is 1st shift, M-F 7am-3pm .
New Hire Starting Rate : $25.31 p / hr. ; After 6 months : $28.13 p / hr.
This position will receive an hourly "shift premium" of $1.00 p / hr. while assigned to an off shift.
Job Summary : The Layout Inspector will inspect castings, wax patterns of castings, customer tooling, and precision measurement instruments for conformance to blueprints and customer specifications by utilizing coordinate measurement machines and other dimensional software for measuring and analyzing data.
Essential Functions & Job Responsibilities :
- Perform calibrations of all customers gauges (daily)
- Repair customer gauges to make them functional for production use (daily)
- Run CMM programs on production castings (daily)
- Correlated CMM programs to manual results (daily)
- Troubleshoot and repair problems associated with all CMM's in the plant (daily)
- Perform calibrations of all precision measurement equipment to ISO standards (weekly)
- Perform routine maintenance on CMM machines (monthly)
- Understand all customer specifications and ISO quality standards
- Operate coordinate measurement machines utilizing computer software packages such as FLB, OFI, Autoscan, Fanamation, AutoCAD and Valysis (daily)
- Apply all knowledge concerning blueprint interpretation and geometric tolerancing (daily)
- Apply math skills to projects requiring knowledge of trigonometry (daily)
- In all cases of inspection or correlation, the inspector must report results on everything to within .0005 except on structural precision measurement equipment where the measurement tolerance is .0002

Equipment Used :
Coordinate measurement machines, Calipers, micrometers, Jo blocks, light table, Oditest gauges, CAD equipment, hand tools, and standard office equipment to include personnel computer and calculators.
