Kelly Services is hiring Quality Control Inspector for a manufacturing and fabrication environment in Hampton, VA. This role supports make-to-print manufacturing by inspecting raw materials, in-process work, machined and fabricated components, assemblies, and finished products.

The QC Inspector is responsible for verifying product conformance to contract requirements, engineering drawings, specifications, customer flowdowns, workmanship standards, and internal quality procedures.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Perform receiving, in-process, first-piece, and final inspections.
- Inspect purchased material, machined components, fabricated parts, assemblies, and
ience and demonstrated competencyfinished product.
- Verify conformance to drawings, specifications, travelers, routers, work instructions, customer requirements, and internal procedures.
- Confirm correct drawing revisions, specifications, planning, and supporting documentation are being used.
- Use inspection tools, measuring devices, and test equipment to verify dimensional, visual, and workmanship requirements.
- Confirm material identification, certifications, traceability, and supporting documentation.
- Ensure inspection equipment is properly identified and calibrated before use.
- Document inspection results, checklists, acceptance records, nonconformance records, and reinspection results.
- Identify, document, communicate, and help control nonconforming product.
- Support containment, reinspection, rework/repair verification, and corrective action activities.
- Support customer, source, third-party, internal, or regulatory inspection activities when needed.
- Maintain accurate, complete, audit-ready quality records.
This Job May Be a Great Fit If You Have
- Experience in quality inspection, manufacturing, fabrication, machining, welding, or make-to-print production.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, revisions, travelers/routers, and acceptance criteria.
- Experience using common inspection and measuring equipment.
- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to identify nonconforming conditions and communicate findings clearly.
- Experience with blueprint reading, GD&T, inspection reports, certifications, traceability records, and objective quality evidence.
- Basic computer skills.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems, electronic quality records, inspection databases, or controlled document systems is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/trade training is preferred.
Level Expectations
Level 1: Performs inspections using established procedures, checklists, and defined acceptance criteria under direct or routine supervision.
Level 2: Performs more complex inspections independently, interprets drawings/specifications, initiates nonconformance records, supports containment, and may operate approved complex measurement equipment when qualified.
Level 3: Serves as a technical resource, supports complex nonconformances, trains lower-level inspectors, interfaces with internal teams/customers, and may interpret complex measurement equipment results when qualified.
Senior QC Inspector: Acts as the senior inspection resource for complex acceptance decisions, workmanship interpretation, customer requirement interpretation, audits, mentoring, and measurement system authority within assigned scope.

- GD&T training
- ASQ Certified Quality Inspector
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector
- NDT certifications
- Coating inspection certifications
- Customer- or process-specific inspection qualifications
Physical / Work Environment
- Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment.
- Inspection work may include standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing, and handling inspection tools, gages, or parts.
