APTIM is seeking senior-level engineers to join our team of engineering professionals serving our Government and Commercial programs.

Engineers will apply critical thinking skills to initial planning, procurement support, plan development, design, construction and commissioning phases of projects. APTIM expects our engineers to be creative problem solvers and actively look for the best way to support our varied Government and commercial clients. Engineers will often work on multiple projects simultaneously and perform other duties as required. This position will require prior knowledge of the engineering and construction industry. Understanding of corporate mechanisms such as scopes of work, construction safety protocols, and experience in a professional work environment. This position immediately offers opportunities for continuous growth while solving problems in the engineering and construction industry. Engineers typically serve the projects in both the field (domestic and international assignments) and the office, as necessary.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities :

A seasoned experienced professional with a full understanding of mechanical engineering resolving a wide range of issues in creative ways.

Experience in HVAC, ASHRAE, SMACNA & ACGIH Codes

Building Load Calculation Software Trane Trace or Carrier HAP experience

Duct sizing and pressure drop calculations.

HVAC Equipment sizing and specifications, AHU's, DX Units, Chillers, Pumping systems, Cooling Towers, Boilers and Heat exchangers.

Broad application of principles, theories and concepts in HVAC and mechanical engineering, plus working knowledge of other related fields

Work with young engineering team members providing oversight and training.

Provides resolution to a diverse scope and range of complex problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors

Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions

Development of project design basis, development of specifications, and performance of detailed engineering.

Ensures conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures.

May perform in project leadership role and / or may supervise the activities of lower level personnel

Contributes to a team environment. Perform detailed technical analysis of complex project issues.

Break complex technical tasks into manageable subtasks.

Travel to site locations to provide engineering support, meetings with clients, and meetings at other company offices to support engineering efforts.

Basic Qualifications :

Requires Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years related experience.

Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and technical engineering software, some CADD experience (AutoCAD, REVIT and / or MicroStation) along with good verbal and writing skills.

Candidates must be willing to travel for infrequent field assignments.

Mechanical, plumbing experience is a plus.

Nuclear experience is a plus.

Field experience is a plus.

Construction experience and certifications a plus.

Must be a US Citizen and be able to pass a background check to gain access to government facilities.

PE is a requirement.

Certified Energy Manager is a plus.

Ability to work independently and in a diverse team setting.

Willingness to work across Engineering disciplines.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $140K to $170K. Compensation depends on several factors including : experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
