The Operating Room Technician will join a 250-bed, Joint Commission-accredited hospital known for Magnet-recognized nursing excellence and high-reliability practices. The perioperative program features advanced minimally invasive and robotic platforms, strong quality outcomes, and a culture of shared governance. As an Operating Room Technician, expect modern OR suites, evidence-based protocols, and a supportive environment focused on safety and innovation.
Reporting to the Director of Perioperative Services or the Operating Room Nurse Manager, the Operating Room Technician partners closely with circulating RNs, surgeons, anesthesia professionals, and Sterile Processing. The Operating Room Technician holds no direct reports and functions as a vital clinical teammate within the surgical care continuum. Cross-collaboration for the Operating Room Technician includes coordination with Pre-Op / PACU, Materials Management, and infection prevention leaders to ensure readiness and efficiency.
Within a dynamic surgical services department featuring 10-14 ORs and an annual case volume that spans general, ortho, neuro, women's health, and cardiovascular specialties, the Operating Room Technician will experience an energetic, professional, and highly supportive culture. The Operating Room Technician will work alongside exceptional surgeons, seasoned RNs, and dedicated techs who value teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement. The Operating Room Technician prepares rooms and instruments, maintains a sterile field, anticipates surgeon needs, manages counts, assists with turnover, and ensures proper care and handling of equipment to support safe, efficient procedures. Qualifications for the Operating Room Technician include a high school diploma or equivalent; graduation from a school of Surgical Technology preferred; BLS prior to the end of probation; and current Surgical Technologist certification, along with knowledge of sterilization / cleansing protocols and the ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English. Experience for the Operating Room Technician of one or more years in an acute care operating room or instrument care environment is preferred.
