Overview :
Position Title : Systems Programmer - Energy Management
School / Department : Maintenance and Operations (M&O)
Pay Grade : Technology Grade 17
FLSA Status : Nonexempt
Work Week Schedule : Monday-Friday (Evening and weekend requirements on a rotational basis)
Position is not available for a hybrid telework workweek.
Position Purpose : Become an integral part of the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) team responsible for programming and maintaining Building Automation Systems (BAS). You will support new installations, modifications, and ensure efficient operations across all facilities. Engage in technical work involving troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs of BAS and Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Extensive knowledge of BAS, HVAC systems, networking equipment, and electrical fixtures.
- In-depth understanding of computers, hardware, software, and BAS programming languages.
- Considerable expertise in Information Technology Networking protocols such as Lon, Bacnet, Modbus, and TCPIP.
- Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team to achieve goals.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and performing maintenance and repairs on building automation systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
- Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing, ensuring the flow of information and collaboration.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster relationships with school system staff and the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Work Environment / Physical Requirements : This job involves both indoor and outdoor environments. Standard office equipment is routinely used, including computers and hand / power tools. Physical work may involve exerting up to 50 pounds of force, and exposure to hazardous materials, gases, chemicals, and inclement weather conditions may occur. The position requires the ability to operate automotive equipment.
