Our team is passionate about their work and committed to building the next generation of industry leaders, and as a certified Great Place to Work, Woolpert embraces progress and innovation to create limitless opportunities for career growth.

Position Overview

Woolpert is seeking a Project Manager to support our Infrastructure Energy industry projects, ideally based in or with easy access to the Columbus, OH area. This role may accommodate full-time in-person, hybrid, or primarily remote working arrangements and does require some business travel to field sites and client offices. Candidates who are a good fit have strong interpersonal, management, and relevant technical skills.

We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country where the job is located.

What You Will Do:

  • Build and maintain strong, supportive relationships, ensuring excellent client service and a collaborative team approach.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between clients and internal project teams, ensuring clear communication and expectations; managing schedule, scope, project financials, QA/QC, and deliverables; and anticipating and resolving project issues.
  • Set projects, programs, and staff up for success and continuous improvement by applying a structured, step-by-step mindset to create, document, and apply lessons.
  • Provide civil engineering-related technical guidance for both rural and urban energy transmission projects. Relevant skills and experience include:
    • Site civil engineering design, including grading, stormwater management, materials selection, and geotechnical assessment;
    • Environmental impacts, such as E&S control selection and SWP3s;
    • Permitting, particularly in the City of Columbus, Ohio;
    • Utility route selection and coordination;
    • Construction support, both during construction and emphasizing buildable design; and
    • Project documentation such as design notes and technical reports.

What You Will Bring:

We are seeking an experienced project manager with a strong foundation in site development or site civil design, utilities, civil construction, permitting, and/or survey.

  • Minimum of 8 years relevant Engineering, Survey, or Civil Construction Industry experience required.
  • The ability to drive technical discussion and site civil design, QA/QC engineering plans, and support a culture of continuous improvements to project deliverables.
  • Strong project management fundamentals. Experience with proposals, scope/schedule/fee management, and program development preferred.
  • A proactive, client-focused approach with the ability to build trust and collaboration, and to communicate effectively both internally and externally.
  • Comfort using standard Office software, including Bluebeam. Additional relevant software proficiency is preferred (Civil3D, HydroCAD, ESRI products, etc).
  • Good written and verbal English, including ability to write project notes and short technical reports without AI tools.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to field and office locations for local client and project needs.
  • A professional registration is preferred but not required.
