About the Role :
The Solar Service and Commissioning Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful installation and operation of solar energy systems. This position involves conducting thorough inspections, testing, and commissioning of solar installations to guarantee optimal performance and compliance with industry standards. The technician will also be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving any issues that arise during the commissioning process. By providing exceptional service and technical expertise, the technician will contribute to the overall efficiency and reliability of solar energy solutions. Ultimately, this role supports the company's mission to promote sustainable energy practices and enhance customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities :
- Service, troubleshoot, and perform warranty work on residential solar PV and battery systems in new home construction.
- Activate and configure Enphase, Tesla, and SolarEdge systems, including batteries, inverters, gateways, and monitoring portals.
- Diagnose electrical and communication issues such as wiring faults, low production, inverter errors, and network connectivity failures.
- Repair or replace defective modules, inverters, wiring, breakers, labeling, and other BOS components as needed.
- Validate system performance, complete commissioning checklists, and ensure systems meet safety and quality standards before homeowner turnover.
- Communicate findings, timelines, and next steps clearly with customers, builders, and internal teams to ensure timely resolutions.
- Maintain accurate documentation and service reports, including parts used, issues diagnosed, and corrective actions taken.
- Update monitoring platforms and internal CRM / service systems to reflect completed work and system status.
- Follow all OSHA, NEC, and company safety procedures, including lockout / tagout, PPE usage, and roof / ladder safety.
