This is a fully remote position with periodic travel required for business meetings at company offices and visits to project sites in support of estimate development.

All Construction Division offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and drug screen. In accordance with client requirements, security clearance is required and is determined based on background check results.

McMillen, Inc. designs and builds solutions that shape the future of water resources. As an employee-owned firm, we take pride in every project because we know our work truly matters. Our people thrive on solving complex challenges, pushing boundaries, and refining their craft. We don't look for the complacent or the comfortable. We seek problem solvers, innovators, and experts who are always striving to be better. We support continuous learning, cutting-edge technology, and a balanced work-life environment so our employees can build careers they're proud of.

We are focused in the dams, energy, fisheries, natural resources, and infrastructure markets. With staff across the United States, Canada, Europe, and beyond, we bring global best practices to our clients. Our people integrate engineering, environmental, and construction expertise to deliver practical, results-driven outcomes. From concept to completion, projects are guided through feasibility studies, permitting, design, construction, and commissioning, ensuring technical precision and real-world functionality.

Requirements:

  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Conduct detailed quantity take-offs and develop unit price costs.
  • Evaluate project feasibility by assessing risks, determining budget requirements, and considering alternative construction methods.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to obtain competitive pricing and ensure comprehensive bid coverage.
  • Utilize estimating software and other tools to develop accurate and detailed estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure alignment on project scope, budgets, and timelines.
  • Review historical data and market trends to ensure the accuracy and competitiveness of estimates.
  • Participate in bid reviews and presentations, providing detailed explanations of estimates and supporting data.
  • Gather details and maintain current market data to accurately estimate construction, material, and soft costs.
  • Prepare written documents and narratives to support the cost estimate review process by in-house review teams and clients. Must understand the design build process and have experience working with design teams during the bid process.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in estimating within the heavy civil engineering or construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry practices.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required, and familiarity with estimating software is a plus (e.g., HCSS, Bluebeam).

Compensation Package:
