Job description

Nemours is seeking a Manager, Application Engineering (Custom Solutions) to join our Nemours Children's Health team in either Jacksonville, Florida, Orlando, Florida or Wilmington, Delaware.

This is a hybrid position.

The Manager of Custom Solutions is responsible for the leadership and management of the Custom Solutions team in the design, development, maintenance and support of custom developed applications. This position will provide oversight to all phases of our strategy, architecture, delivery and support of custom developed
applications, with specific emphasis on performance, availability, scalability, quality and on time delivery. Additionally, this role makes recommendations to standardize procedures and processes and to introduce new technology or improve existing technology, including analyzing costs and preparing cost/benefit analyses of recommended changes.

Effectively lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Custom Solutions team(s).
Coordinate and manage multiple, concurrent development projects using the Agile methodology with successful results.
Cultivate productive customer relationships with clinical and business operations to identify new areas of opportunity for custom solution development along with ensuring existing solutions meet customer's needs.
Recruit, develop, and retain a high performing team. Includes performing annual evaluations, preparing and maintaining individual professional development plans, and making recommendations for disciplinary actions or associate recognition.
Anticipate and adapt to the changing needs of the organization, including researching industry trends, making recommendations on emerging technologies and assisting with the acquisition and implementation of those new tools to support clinical and business objectives.
Continuously evaluate operations to identify opportunities to improve the way the team develops and supports the custom solutions, along with how those solutions are advertised and communicated to customers and leadership.
Prepare Capital and Operating budgets annually. Manage and track expenditures against those budgets.
Able to be a hands-on contributor and validator to review code, identify defects, suggest solutions and improvements. May periodically diagnose and resolve application issues reported from production and direct team in development of unit tests for regression and refactoring.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or higher in computer science, mathematics, operations, management, or a related field is required.
A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a directly related area, during which both professional and management capabilities have been clearly demonstrated is required.
Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub, Microsoft Power Platform, Java, .Net, API's, and SQL in an Agile development environment.
Experience with SDLC core principles including automated regression testing.
