About the Position :
- This is a time-limited (NS-14) position with the Mississippi Department of Corrections - Community Corrections in Adams County
- Advanced level specialized law enforcement position serving as a lead officer who is responsible for patrolling and enforcing relevant laws within their jurisdiction. In addition, work involves assisting in the interview process of suspects and witnesses and assisting other law enforcement agencies and / or municipalities when necessary. Additionally, may be responsible for testifying in court cases regarding violations. This level is assigned full scope of lead work to include assisting in the orientation of new employees; giving direction to workers concerning work procedures; communicating, monitoring, and reviewing work in conformance to established standards of performance; and providing an informal assessment of workers' to the supervisor. Additionally, this position will maintain supervision for the 17th Judicial District for Desoto County Circuit Drug Court and Intervention Program for ISP and supervise a caseload of 40 to 60 offenders.
What you'll need to be Successful : To be successful in this position you will need to be highly organized, pay close attention to detail, and be able to meet deadlines. In all cases, the applicant must have successfully completed the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Training Program as mandated by Mississippi Code Annotated, 1972, Section 47-7-9 (b) (2015) as amended.
Preferred Qualifications : Typically requires 60 semester hours of college, possession of a State of Mississippi Law Enforcement Professional Certification, and 4-6 years of experience in law enforcement.
