Job description

There’s no pledge more important than the one we make to look after our environment, and we’re committed to helping you do exactly that.

Join us as we strive to ensure a sustainable future for our communities and the world we live in.

Become part of our global network of skilled engineers, scientists, auditors, planners and environmental specialists, all working together to leave this world better than we found it.

Who are we looking for?

GHD has a great opportunity for an Environmental Engineer, with a specialization in contaminated sites to support our Central region! Our hiring team specializes in environmental assessments, risk assessments, risk management planning and implementation, and remedial design and implementation for public and private sector clients across the Central US. We are a cohesive team inspired by providing an exceptional client experience while remaining focused on our collective and individual career progression.

Our workplace thrives on a hybrid model, combining in-office collaboration and flexibility. Join us in office, three days a week to contribute, connect and excel in our vibrant environment.

In an ever-changing world, it requires creativity and innovation to stay ahead.

We’re seeking the curious, those who are stimulated by fresh thinking and a desire to shape our communities in new, positive ways.

As part of a truly global team, working on complex and rewarding projects, you'll be at the forefront of driving change. See what the power of commitment can do for you.

Working with an energetic and high-performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

Research, design, plan, and perform engineering duties in the prevention, control, and remediation of environmental hazards using various engineering disciplines. Work may include waste treatment, site remediation, or pollution control technology.

Responsibilities

  • Support of strategic pursuits, focused on federal sector and private industrial clients.
  • Working on a wide variety of environmental remediation projects including PRB, Slurry walls, and liner/cap/cover scope.
  • Lead complex investigations, design solutions, and support construction for remediation projects.
  • Develop strategies and deliver innovative, client-focused solutions.
  • Work within multi-disciplinary project teams, providing environmental advice to other GHD teams.
  • Remain current on standard methodologies for innovative remediation approaches.
  • Manage design projects including budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Development and review of technical environmental reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Opportunity to work on local, national, and global projects, which may at times entail supporting other GHD office locations requiring some travel.
  • Support and mentor junior team members in a learning and collaborative atmosphere.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
  • Engineering Drawings: Create engineering drawings to support the communication, evaluation, and implementation of engineering solutions.
  • Engineering Solutions Design: Contribute to the design of engineering solutions; design the feasibility testing approach and supervise its implementation to support the development and validation of engineering solutions.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization's HSE policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks.
  • Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities through training, coaching, and maintaining professional accreditation; stay updated on technology, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Project Management: Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.
  • Client & Customer Management (External): Help senior colleagues manage client and customer relationships by using relevant sales or client systems.
  • Engage with US Federal and private sector projects and regulators, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Communicate effectively and produce high-quality reports to maintain client service excellence.
  • Take initiative and work collaboratively as a self-starter.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related field) required
