Flexible non-traditional evening shift starting between 1PM - 3PM
Job Summary
Under the direction of a radiologist, performs general radiographic examinations at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Performs a variety of technical imaging procedures that entail application of ionizing radiation; therefore, prudent judgment, strong technical skills, and commitment to patient safety are considered requisite professional characteristics for individuals assuming the position as a general radiologic technologist.
Essential Functions :
- Performs high quality general radiographic / fluoroscopic imaging studies by selecting specific software parameters that will produce a quality image for use by radiologists in their determination of a diagnosis. To provide the necessary data for radiologists to interpret images, the technologist scans all relevant clinical information into the PACS, assigns prioritization box for the radiologists' worklist, and then transmits current to the PACS. These activities must be completed immediately following examination completion, not to exceed 1 hour. Prepares and assists in administering contrast agents and determines any potential allergies to ensure compliance with departmental practices. (50%)
- Uses Epic to input patient examination data and to place patient orders, when appropriate. Notates within the appropriate electronic / hardcopy document, as necessary, all pertinent patient information to comply with patient screening, ordering, charting, and medical record requirements (15%)
- Ensures patient safety, comfort, and personal dignity by following appropriate patient care guidelines to include use of 2 patient identifiers. Transports patients to and from the Department of Radiology, as needed, to prevent patient flow delays. (15%)
- Assists in the maintenance of department inventory by ordering, stocking, and performing inventory checks on those medical supplies utilized when performing general radiographic examinations. (10%)
- Attends and participates in departmental huddles, general intradepartmental meetings, and Radiology's inservices. (5%)
- Maintains imaging and processing equipment by performing scheduled cleanings and tests; results of all cleanings and tests are documented, as appropriate. Contacts service personnel and notifies supervisory staff of equipment malfunctions. Maintains a clean and orderly working environment through wiping down examination tables, changing linens, stocking supplies, and washing / disinfecting general radiographic equipment. (5%)
