Possession of a valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate. Must be 15 years of age by Friday, May 22, 2026, to start work as a lifeguard. Must be available and flexible to work various hours during the week and weekend through Labor Day (exception for college guards). Some related work experience preferred but not required. Nature of Work :
Under general supervision, accomplishes specialized work in protecting life by preventing and responding to emergencies, assisting in instructions, and assisting in the operation of a public swimming pool; and performs related work as required.
Primary Duties :
- Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.
- Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
- Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
- Attends and participates in in-service training sessions.
- Provides courteous and expeditious customer service to the general public and City department staffs.
- Enforces Pool Rules and regulations.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
