Fiber Technician in Phoenix, AZ, USA - (Pay - $51.72)
Job Description
The Fiber Technician is responsible for all aspects of fiber including installing, terminating, testing, and splicing. The role requires expertise in structured cabling, with duties such as building closets, installing work area outlets, and ensuring all connections are properly made and tested.
Responsibilities
- Install and terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks, mount face plates and surface mount boxes.
- Build and install closets including backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, and fiber optic hardware.
- Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cable as required.
- Perform testing of cables using continuity tests and volt-ohmmeter; troubleshoot issues such as opens, crosses, and shorts.
- Identify active voice or data circuits.
- Lead and train crew, coordinate personnel, and manage project timelines.
- Adhere to company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.
- Perform mechanical and fusion splicing with all types of fiber cable, including building entrance splices and maintenance spaces.
- Conduct testing using an OTDR and troubleshoot network-wide problems.

Work Environment
The position is based in a manufacturing facility where you must walk approximately one mile from the parking lot to the worksite. Work hours are Monday through Thursday, with ten-hour shifts, allowing for a three-day weekend. The environment involves both indoor and outdoor settings, tight spaces, and heights. PPE is required, including steel toe boots, safety vests, gloves, and safety glasses, all provided by the employer.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $51.72 - $51.72 / hr.
