Overview

The Technical Training Content Developer is responsible for creating hands-on technical training materials used to train field technicians, including mechanics, electricians, and other skilled trades. This role focuses on developing clear, practical training modules by working closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and translating real-world field and laboratory knowledge into structured training content. Success requires strong communication skills, curiosity, and the ability to interview technical experts, understand how equipment and systems work, and document that knowledge in a way that supports effective technician training. The ideal candidate is early in their career, technically inclined, and eager to learn and be developed within the role.

Responsibilities

  • Develop technical training content and learning modules for field-based technicians.
  • Interview Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gather hands-on technical knowledge and operational details.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, practical, technician-friendly training materials.
  • Create and update training documents, procedures, and instructional materials using Microsoft Office tools.
  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operations personnel to ensure training accuracy and relevance.
  • Support the ongoing development of multiple training modules; this role supports a large and growing training library.
  • Conduct site visits and engage with SMEs in their work environments as needed.
  • Incorporate feedback and revisions into training materials as content evolves.
  • Maintain organized, accurate, and up-to-date training documentation.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a technical discipline preferred (Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred).
  • Early-career candidates or recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong interest in hands-on technical work, equipment, and how mechanical or electrical systems operate.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical professionals and ask detailed, clarifying questions.
  • Strong written communication skills with attention to clarity and detail.
  • Comfortable working in a fully in-office environment.
  • Willingness to travel (up to ~40% initially) to field locations, primarily in West Texas.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and open to coaching and learning new processes.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
