About the opportunity

Do you thrive in the pursuit of ensuring excellence in environmental consulting services for your clients? SWCA Environmental Consultants is expanding their team and looking for dynamic individuals who are following their passion in delivering the highest-quality project work. SWCA's Arlington, TX office offers a unique work environment and a diversified client base, including generation/renewables, transportation, water infrastructure, oil and gas, and land development. Your role will be to assist the crew chiefs and field directors on a variety of projects throughout Texas, Oklahoma, or adjacent states. (HR Title = Cultural Resources Technician). This is a temporary, hourly, non-exempt position. Below are some more details associated with the job.

  • Ability to work variable fieldwork schedules, including 6 on /1 off and 10 on /4 off
  • Per diem, housing, and company vehicles provided.
  • Mileage reimbursement is provided for work-related use of personal vehicles.

What you will accomplish

  • Conduct archaeological fieldwork, including monitoring, pedestrian and shovel test survey, evaluation testing, and data recovery.
  • Assist with mapping responsibilities in the field, including the collection of GPS data using Trimble units.
  • Adhere to the safety program and looks out for the safety of others, promptly communicating and mitigating safety hazards.

Experience and qualifications for success

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Field experience with a wide range of field methodologies, including archaeological survey, testing, excavation, methodology, and monitoring
  • Survey 123 or ArcGIS Collector software experience
  • An accredited Field School Certification

Additional Information:

  • Current valid driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle record screening
  • Ability to travel to a location, walk long distances, and conduct fieldwork for long hours, sometimes in inclement weather (including extreme heat and humidity), and rugged terrain
  • Ability to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to pass a drug screen
  • Ability to operate full size truck
