General Education Development (GED®) Teacher

Reports to : Director of Adult Education

Part Time, Academic Calendar, Mondays and Wednesday, 6 : 00-8 : 00 PM plus 30 minutes paid planning time for each class (typically 5 hrs / wk)

Pay Rate : $32.45 / hr

Position is open until filled / Anticipated start date is August 15, 2024

Job Description : EdAdvance is seeking a qualified applicant to teach Reasoning Through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies content to adult learners to prepare them to take the GED® subject area tests.

Major Responsibilities :

  • Create a positive learning environment that is supportive and safe for all learners
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to engage learners and develop sound foundational skills in each subject area and transferable visual literacy skills

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Sensitive to the needs of adult learners ages 18+
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of strategies and linguistic supports to support instruction
  • Ability to use classroom technology such as a laptop, projector, and interactive board to enhance instruction

    • Qualifications / Requirements :

  • Values diversity and inclusion
  • Sensitive to the needs of adult learners
  • CT certification #107, #106, #015 English, or #029 Mathematics preferred

    • Physical Requirements :
