Job Summary and Responsibilities

- Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently perform tasks, skills, duties, procedures and responsibilities according to Medical Center Policy and Procedure. Including, but not limited to :
- Demonstrates ability to assess / interpret age-specific data.
- Encourages involvement of patient / family / significant other in decision making related to plan of care : 1. identifies patient / caregiver teaching needs 2. identifies patient safety issues 3. Identifies patient comfort / pain issues
- Performs the priority procedures for the assigned patients or areas safely - without causing harm legally - within the scope of practice and SMMC policy and in a manner perceived as satisfying by the patient and family.
- Identifies actual and potentially unsafe care practices, initiates actions as appropriate to prevent or correct and reports in a timely manner.
- Documents in accordance with SMMC policy and procedure in a timely manner the following information : 1. initial and subsequent assessment and data including a cardiac assessment 2. interventions 3. patient response and outcome 4. unusual occurrences
