Generator Technician
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Generator Technician to join our team in Canfield, OH. This role is perfect for a hands-on professional experienced in servicing various sizes of generators and related mechanical equipment. If you have a knack for troubleshooting and repairing complex machinery, we want to hear from you!
Join a company committed to providing top-quality generator services to our valued customers. As a Generator Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing equipment issues, performing repairs, and maintaining generator systems at customer locations. This role also offers opportunities to promote maintenance contracts and advise customers on equipment performance and repair needs. Your expertise will help ensure reliable backup power solutions while building lasting customer relationships. Call our office to speak with a recruiter or schedule an interview.
Hours: 1st Shift, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday
Pay: $20.00 – $5.00 per hour (based on experience)
Key Responsibilities
• Diagnose generator and mechanical equipment issues using testing devices such as ammeters, voltmeters, and watt meters.
• Record repairs, parts used, and labor time accurately.
• Reassemble repaired electric motors to specified ratings using hand tools and electrical meters.
• Repair and rebuild defective mechanical parts in generators and related equipment.
• Rewire electrical systems, replace electrical accessories, and inspect wiring following diagrams.
• Read service manuals and schematics to determine repair procedures.
• Test equipment to locate damage or worn parts and diagnose malfunctions.
• Solder, wrap, and coat wires for proper insulation.
• Assemble electrical components like alternators, starters, and switches.
• Lubricate moving parts and replace defective parts such as coils, brushes, and wires.
• Disassemble equipment for maintenance and repair, using hand tools.
• Operate cranes, hoists, and forklifts safely to lift heavy equipment.
• Ensure all repairs meet safety and quality standards.
Minimum Requirements
• At least 5 years of experience in a technician or similar role.
• Ability to attend and pass manufacturer training classes when required.
• Good customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and multi-task effectively.
• Proactive approach to problem-solving.
Nice to Have Skills
• Experience with generator systems and mechanical equipment.
• Knowledge of electrical systems and schematics.
Preferred Education and Experience
• Relevant technical schooling or certifications.
• Experience in generator repair and maintenance.
Other Requirements
• Ability to work on-site at customer locations.
• Comfortable being in customers’ homes and driving company vehicles.
• May require lifting heavy parts and equipment.
