Job description

Community Planner

Halff is seeking to hire a Community Planner to join our Texas Planning Team with the option of several of our office locations. The ideal person for this position can thrive in a collaborative work environment with an interdisciplinary team of planners, landscape architects, and engineers. The successful candidate will work collaboratively and autonomously as conditions require. Tasks may include research and analysis, writing and communicating through visuals, communicating with clients, consensus-building, and confidently interacting with the public.

The intent is for this person to be based out of and mostly in-person in one of the following Halff offices: San Antonio, Austin, Fort Worth or Richardson offices.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in community/urban planning or a closely related field from an accredited university.
  • 1-4 years of experience in a planning capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with computer programs (GIS, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office programs, InDesign) and the ability to produce attractive maps, graphics, and written documents.
  • A great attitude towards teamwork, curiosity, initiative, and taking on new challenges.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the public or private sector.
  • Master's degree in community/urban planning, landscape architecture, architecture, or a closely related field.
  • AICP certification.

Interested candidates who meet or exceed the above qualifications are invited to submit a letter of interest and resume. A project portfolio or work samples can also be included to demonstrate abilities and recent achievements. If collaborative work is shown, credit team members and note your role where applicable.

The Halff Planning Advantage:

  • Halff's Planning team is involved early in the process to develop a plan that seamlessly integrates built elements with the natural environment.
  • We achieve stakeholder buy-in of a vision through meeting facilitation and public input when required.
