Department Summary
The Division of Global Engagement (DGE) works to make the University of Oregon a more global university. In 21st-century higher education, international engagement is not an optional extra : as noted in UO's Academic Plan, it is a core mission, essential to a thriving, socially salient, intellectually robust, academic community. It is part of the normal functioning of every school, college, department, and center. DGE works to support and integrate a wide range of international engagements, global-scale projects, and transnational partnerships launched and maintained in our many academic units. Units within DGE consist of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), Global Education Oregon (GEO), and Global Studies Institute (GSI).
Position Summary
The Global Engagement Programs Coordinator works closely with the Division of Global Engagement (DGE) leadership in the development, coordination, and execution of new and existing, cross-unit, revenue-generating programs in furtherance of UO’s global engagement mission.
This position reports to the Associate Director for Global Programs and coordinates with other members of DGE units to design, implement, and coordinate global engagement programs that enhance UO research excellence; support faculty global engagements; bring students into new forms of international curriculum, service, and experiential learning; and enhance the global diversity and cross-cultural vibrancy of the UO campus and community. This all involves the coordination of ongoing DGE programming and the generation of new revenue from interdisciplinary global engagement programming, grants, gifts, contracts, fee-based training, and other sources that support UO’s global engagement.
This position also provides research, advice, and support to the Assistant Vice Provost, Dean & Vice Provost, and other DGE leaders, as needed.
