PGS Worldwide is seeking a Technical Writer in Sterling Heights, MI for a 6-month contract-to-hire role working a full-time schedule. This position supports a major aerospace & defense company and involves creating, revising, and validating complex technical documentation for advanced mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. The role requires strong collaboration with engineering teams and the ability to translate highly technical data into clear, user-focused instructions.
Required Skills
- Working knowledge of hydraulics, mechanics, electronics, and system operations
- Ability to analyze engineering drawings, technical data, and system designs
- Proficiency with modern publishing and page-production tools
- Experience with XML authoring tools (Arbortext, Oxygen)
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Access a plus)
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat Professional or similar PDF markup tools
- Ability to write, revise, and validate complex technical documentation
- Strong English language skills, attention to detail, and ability to work across multiple teams
- Mechanical / electrical / operator technical writing experience, ideally within the defense industry
- Ability to support customer interactions, reviews, and problem-solving discussions
- Familiarity with IETM development processes and markup languages
