Job Summary:

The Industrial Designer is responsible for supporting the design and development of innovative medical devices and accessories that deliver exceptional user experiences while aligning with company brand identity and product strategy. This role contributes to the full product development lifecycle through concept generation, human factors considerations, visualization, prototyping, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The Industrial Designer applies design thinking principles to create solutions that enhance usability, ergonomics, aesthetics, and overall customer experience.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Support the design and development of medical devices and accessories from concept through commercialization.
  • Create sketches, concept studies, and design explorations to communicate ideas and evaluate design alternatives.
  • Develop detailed CAD models and assemblies using SolidWorks or similar design software.
  • Produce high-quality renderings, visualizations, and presentation materials to support design reviews and product development activities.
  • Build and evaluate prototypes using internal resources and external vendors to assess ergonomics, usability, and appearance.
  • Conduct user research and incorporate customer, clinician, and stakeholder feedback into product designs.
  • Apply human factors and ergonomic principles to improve product usability and user experience.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Marketing, Clinical, Regulatory, and Manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet functional, regulatory, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews and effectively communicate design rationale and recommendations.
  • Research industry trends, materials, technologies, and competitive products to identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Maintain documentation supporting design concepts, prototypes, and development activities.
  • Contribute to establishing and maintaining company visual design language across product platforms.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

Minimum & Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD software.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Experience creating product renderings and visual presentations using KeyShot or similar visualization tools.
  • Strong understanding of form development, color, typography, and visual communication principles.
  • Knowledge of human factors and ergonomic design principles.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Portfolio demonstrating product design, visualization, and problem-solving capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience designing products within the medical device, healthcare, or consumer electronics industries.
  • Familiarity with rapid prototyping technologies, including 3D printing.
  • Experience conducting user research and translating findings into product requirements.
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of FDA design controls and regulated product development environments.
  • Experience presenting concepts and recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders.
Education:

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Factors, or a related field is required. An advanced degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Factors, or a related discipline is preferred. Language requirements
