Health assistant [h1.location_city]

Job Purpose

Assists the school nurse in providing minor health care to students attending the Holbrook School District.

Duties and Responsibilities

Aides students in the care of minor health matters such as headaches, scratches, abrasions, bruises, sprains, blisters and stomach aches. Evaluates the seriousness of illness or injury. Refer to more educated or trained personnel for further assessment and treatment, i.e. school nurse, physician, E.M.T personnel. Maintains health records and daily logs of students. Monitors inventory of supplies and stocks as necessary. Administers vision and hearing screenings. Gives daily prescribed medications to students needing them. Prepare paperwork for new student enrollments pertaining to health records. Cover other schools in absence of a school nurse. Communicate with a supervisory nurse. Contact parents to convey medical concerns. Transport ill students (in-town) when necessary.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. Valid Arizona drivers license. Successful completion of C.P.R. certification. Trained in administering first aid. Good communication skills. Willing to complete hearing certification. Moderate computer skills required. Moderate clerical skills. Self-Directed. Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Technology Skills

Basic : Email, Time Clock, Log in to basic software programs
