Behavioral Health Technician I
Join our dedicated team as a Behavioral Health Technician I, where you will provide essential direct and supportive care to clients and patients in a compassionate environment. This role is vital in ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals experiencing behavioral health challenges. We are looking for individuals who are observant, empathetic, and possess strong communication skills. Your contributions will help foster a therapeutic atmosphere that promotes recovery and personal growth.
As a Behavioral Health Technician I, you will oversee daily activities, monitor health indicators, respond to crises, and facilitate group education and structured activities. Your role is crucial in maintaining a safe and supportive environment for clients and patients.
Key responsibilities include providing direct oversight and support to clients / patients, monitoring vital signs and health indicators, facilitating group education and structured activities, documenting and reporting any exceptional behaviors or areas of concern related to clients / patients, assisting clients / patients with personal care needs, maintaining accurate records of medication administration, participating as an active member of the treatment team, ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures, providing transportation for clients / patients to appointments as needed, and attending staff meetings and training sessions as requested by supervisors.
Education, experience, and / or credential qualifications include high school education or equivalent and two (2) years of responsible employment, experience in human services or a related field is preferred, for St. Louis County programs : bachelor's degree, or MAADC I or II, for residential care facility (RCF) : become credentialed as a level 1 med aid (LIMA) and be insulin certified within the first ninety (90) days in position.
Additional qualifications include successful completion of background checks, including criminal record, driving record, and abuse / neglect checks, current driver's license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance, first aid and CPR certification within three (3) months of beginning employment, completion of mandatory training within the required time frame, and must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age to operate a company-owned vehicle.
Physical requirements include sedentary work : exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and / or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and / or writing during work shifts. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
