Join Our Team as a Locum Physician in General Medicine – NM
Are you a dedicated medical professional looking for flexible, rewarding opportunities to make a difference in veterans' lives? We are seeking passionate and skilled Locum Physician – General Medicine to provide critical assessments across New Mexico, contributing to our nation's service members. This role offers the chance to work independently, with flexible scheduling, in a setting that values your expertise and commitment.
In this position, you will conduct Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments within your own office, within a 50-mile radius of designated locations. The role involves focused interview-based evaluations and limited physical assessments, such as range of motion and muscle strength testing. No prescribing or treatment is required, making this an ideal role for experienced general medicine practitioners seeking flexible, non-treatment assessments on a PRN basis.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
- Valid medical license corresponding to state requirements
- Proven experience in general medicine, internal medicine, family medicine, or related fields
- Strong diagnostic and interview skills
- Excellent documentation and report-writing abilities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Familiarity with Compensation & Pension exam procedures is a plus
Nice to Have Skills:
- Prior experience with veterans' healthcare or related assessments
- Knowledge of physical assessment techniques such as range of motion testing
- Certification in medical documentation or medical evaluations
Preferred Education & Experience:
- MD or DO degree with current licensure in New Mexico
- At least 1-2 years of clinical experience in general medicine or a related specialty
- Prior experience with compensation and pension exams is advantageous but not mandatory
Other Requirements:
- Own a private professional office within the specified geographic areas
- Travel within designated counties included
- Willingness to complete required credentialing and onboarding promptly
- Ability to dedicate 4-hour or full-day shifts, with flexible scheduling options
