The Behavioral Healthcare Provider develops, coordinates, implements, and delivers interdisciplinary behavioral health services that integrate behavioral and biomedical sciences. This role applies evidence-based knowledge and techniques to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of individuals with behavioral health needs.

The provider works independently within their credentialed scope of practice and may serve as a lead worker or liaison to internal teams and external support agencies.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care & Treatment

• Independently develop, implement, and manage treatment plans for clients within scope of practice
• Coordinate admission, assessment, evaluation, and treatment throughout the client care cycle
• Provide interventions for acute and more complex client cases
• Manage cases involving multiple factors and provide crisis intervention as needed
• Design, evaluate, and modify treatment intervention techniques and procedures based on client progress

Program Development & Leadership

• Act as lead worker over lower-level behavioral healthcare providers
• Participate in establishing, implementing, and directing behavioral healthcare programs and treatment system objectives
• Evaluate performance of lower-level providers in administering prescribed treatment plans
• Maintain required documentation and data to meet federal, state, and local regulatory requirements

Collaboration & Coordination

• Serve as an active member of treatment teams, training sessions, departmental procedure meetings, and policy review meetings
• Establish and maintain working relationships with facilities, agencies, and support services to coordinate referrals and follow-up care

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must hold one of the following active Ohio licenses:

• Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC)
• Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW)
• Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
• Licensed Independent Marriage and Family Therapist (IMFT)
• Licensed Registered Nurse with Certificate of Authority as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or Certified Nurse Practitioner with specialty certification in Mental Health or Psychiatry (Ohio Board of Nursing)

Training & Development

• Completion of required continuing professional education for license renewal in accordance with applicable sections of the Ohio Revised Code

Unusual Working Conditions

• May require nontraditional work schedules or arrangements
• May be exposed to clients who could be potentially violent
• May be exposed to unusual noise, odors, or contagious diseases
• May require travel to community sites under contract with the Department of Mental Health

This position is located within a correctional facility, meaning employees will work in a secure environment around incarcerated individuals.
