Licensure/Certification
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience providing legal counsel in areas including:
Federal healthcare laws and regulations
Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Statute
Medicare/Medicaid Conditions of Participation
Physician/physician group contracting
Hospital/facility licensing
Healthcare operations and regulatory compliance
HIPAA, risk management, fraud and abuse
Litigation
Preferred Experience/Skills
Commitment to a nonprofit, mission-driven culture
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary workforce and external stakeholders
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Experience with contract and litigation management software systems
Position Summary
The KVC Healthcare Attorney provides comprehensive legal counsel and regulatory support across a wide range of patient care and healthcare-related matters. This role includes advising on employment, contracts, and general legal issues as part of an in-house legal team.
The attorney will manage outside counsel for litigation and regulatory matters, advise clinical staff and leadership, and interpret court orders related to child custody and parental rights. Responsibilities also include filing legal pleadings, appearing in court as needed, and managing a high-volume caseload in collaboration with the General Counsel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities may vary based on program needs and employee qualifications.
Provide legal counsel to KVC entities and joint ventures on patient care and healthcare regulatory matters
Conduct legal research and review contracts, leases, subpoenas, medical records requests, and other legal documents
Analyze complex information to provide clear and concise legal guidance
Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including judges, attorneys, and state agencies
Participate in compliance-related activities such as root cause analyses, internal investigations, and licensing requirements
Track and manage active litigation, including discovery and coordination with outside counsel
Demonstrate strong judgment, integrity, and business acumen
Communicate complex legal concepts effectively to diverse audiences
Remain current on healthcare laws and proactively identify risks
Provide legal training and education to staff as needed
Uphold ethical and legal standards while fostering a culture of compliance
Travel as needed and participate in in-person and virtual meetings
