Key Responsibilities:
- Independently assess both acute and non-acute clinical problems, performing and documenting physical assessments and patient histories.
- Develop and implement patient management plans, taking into account cultural backgrounds and support systems, and serving as a patient advocate.
- Manage patient care through writing admission, transfer, and discharge orders.
- Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies, as well as prescribe appropriate medications and treatments.
- Refer patients to appropriate specialists when necessary.
- Create detailed progress notes and summaries documenting patient care.
- Participate in patient care rounds and communicate strategies with multidisciplinary team members.
- Recognize urgent situations requiring immediate medical intervention and initiate life-saving procedures as needed.
- Utilize advanced communication skills to navigate complex situations and enhance patient service.
Additional Duties:
- Collaborate with team members to analyze healthcare systems and propose new practice patterns.
- Attend external activities that promote personal and professional growth.
- Coordinate patient transitions to lower levels of care as appropriate and assist with SNF discharge orders.
- Introduce yourself to patients and families, clarifying your role in their care.
- Facilitate family conferences to discuss treatment goals and resource utilization.
- Enhance collaborative relationships to empower informed decision-making regarding goals of care.
- Prescribe medications as permitted by your state practice regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Skills and Qualifications:

- Empathetic, caring nature with outstanding listening skills.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on patient care documentation.
- Basic proficiency in computers and knowledge of office software.
- This role may require 50-75% local travel.
Education and Experience:
- MD or DO degree in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or a related specialty.
- State Medical License is required.
- Preferred Board certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or a similar specialty; Board eligibility required.
- Current DEA number for prescribing controlled substances.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within the first 90 days of employment.
Compensation:
Salary range: $214,700 - $306,714
