Description : *THIS CANDIDATE MUST RESIDE IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK
Our Higher Education client is looking to hire a help desk candidate. That candidate will start in the data center (located in the same building) and work there for a short period of time in order for the University to figure out if they want to keep them in the data center or send them back to the service desk. This cross training means they will get experience on the network side of IT as well, but it also means they have to be open to all shifts going into this job. They will know what their shift is 2 weeks before.
Day to day these people will be fielding various technical support calls for the universities end users. There are about 12 Level 1 candidates with 4 leads / level 2's. If a user cannot troubleshoot the issue, they will create a technical ticket for the desktop team or work with the level 2's to resolve these issues.
1st level support for Windows, Macintosh, and for UNIX's in a non-standard environment, support over 5000 users across the University. Resolving / Prioritizing service calls to meet or exceed local department metrics, and University objectives. Developed and enhanced personal skills to better function within the guidelines of academic policies, procedures, and continuous training to keep up with the constantly changing environment. Coordinating information flow to keep management and University IT specialists informed. Encouraging team work in all aspects of projects and work within the Service Desk area.
