Job description

Program Director (High School)

The Program Director (High School) role is a teen-focused specialty and is responsible for delivering high-quality programs and mentorship to members in grades 9 through 12. This role focuses on creating meaningful relationships with teen members, supporting their academic success, workforce readiness, leadership development, and overall well-being before and after school. The position involves planning, implementing, and evaluating teen-centered programs in areas such as college and career exploration, social-emotional learning, civic engagement, Brent's Club, Kindness and creative enrichment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Opening the program at 6:30am so students can be dropped off earlier and have breakfast if they would like
  • Creating a welcoming environment for students that need to be dropped off before campus opens
  • Promoting and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment that encourages teens to build confidence, leadership skills, and positive peer relationships
  • Fostering strong relationships with teen members, acting as a mentor and positive role model
  • Actively promoting programs and recruiting teen members through outreach within the high school and community
  • Leading and supporting signature teen programs such as Brent's Club, Kindness, Youth of the Year, Keystone and etc
  • Maintaining accurate program records, incident reports, and documentation
  • Maintaining program spaces, ensuring they are organized, safe, and teen-friendly
  • Participating in required staff meetings, training, and professional development
  • Providing guidance and behavior management in accordance with BGCMLA policies and expectations
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications include:

  • College degree or equivalent
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Combined experience and/or formal training equivalent to a minimum of two years where: there is experience working with youth and knowledge of youth development and/or formal training, and/or experience teaching youth while creating engaging learning experiences
  • Hold a valid driver's license and pass motor vehicle driving record check
  • Pass criminal background check
  • Pass (negative result) a TB test
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications preferred
  • Prior experience working in a Boys & Girls Club preferred
  • Knowledge of core subject areas relevant to teen programming, including academic support, college and career readiness, workforce development, social-emotional learning, and youth leadership
  • Understanding of adolescent development and best practices in youth engagement for high school-aged members
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to plan, lead, and evaluate programs that lead to measurable positive outcomes for teens
  • Ability to model professionalism, reliability, and a growth mindset in all interactions and maintain clear boundaries with teen members
  • This position may be assigned to any sites within the Club as needed to accommodate changes in programming, staffing, or operational requirements
  • Hours are based on school calendar and attendance patterns/trends

Salary Description: $25-$30hr
