Job Description
St. Ambrose Academy is seeking a Special Education Teacher with a background in math and/or Latin to support students with learning differences, particularly dyslexia, in Geometry, Algebra 2, and Latin I.
This role includes co-teaching, individualized support, and developing dyslexia-friendly curriculum. The ideal candidate is passionate about inclusive education and skilled in multi-sensory instruction.
Key Responsibilities:
~Co-teach Geometry, Algebra 2, and Latin I with classroom teachers.
~Support students with Learning Support (LS) plans through differentiated instruction.
~Develop dyslexia-friendly curriculum using Math and Latin texts.
~Incorporate multi-sensory teaching strategies (auditory, visual, tactile, kinesthetic).
~Create instructional videos, reference charts, and modified pacing guides.
~Provide weekly one-on-one support sessions for students.
~Assess student progress through homework, quizzes, and tests.
~Communicate regularly with parents regarding progress and resources.
Required Qualifications:
~At least a Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
~Background in math and/or Latin (instructional experience preferred)
~Experience working with students with dyslexia or learning differences.
~Strong communication and collaboration skills.
~Practicing Catholic, willing to make an Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium, whose life of faith serves as an example to our students and families.
Preferred:
~Experience with Geometry, Algebra II, and/or Lingua Latina Familia Romana.
