Job description

The Opportunity

Joining this premier horticultural leader offers the chance to oversee a production powerhouse with a legacy of excellence. Candidates will step into a high-autonomy role within a culture that values decisive action and results. This position is designed for a strategic operator for a multi-site operation with a reputation for producing the finest products.

Position Overview

The Production Manager oversees all cultivation operations and facilities synchronizing propagation, quality control, and inventory planning. The role focuses on professionalizing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and modernizing labor efficiency to support sustained growth and market leadership.

Core Responsibilities

  • Multi-Site Leadership: Supervise and mentor teams across the locations; drive accountability and consistent standards across diverse growing climates.

  • Production & Propagation: Develop long-term propagation schedules to meet multi-year sales targets.

  • Operational Excellence: Ensure consistency in training across all locations; provide strategic input into sales and production schedules; formalize and document SOPs; oversee pesticide and fertilizer programs and compliance.

  • Inventory Integration: Ensure optimal inventory and ensure accurate digital tracking within the ERP system (JD Edwards).

  • Resource Management: Optimize workforce operations including labor forecasting, safety training, and the management of contracted crews.

  • Strategic Growth: Lead the reactivation of dormant acreage and continuous quality improvement initiatives to capture increased market share.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Industry Expertise: Extensive leadership experience within a large-scale wholesale landscape nursery is required.

  • Operational Bias: A "boots-on-the-ground" leader who spends significant time in the yards rather than behind a desk.

  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to leverage ERP systems and data to drive production forecasts and budgeting.

  • Self-Directed Leadership: A manager who seeks out improvements and operates effectively without micromanagement.

  • Bilingual Skills: Proficiency in Spanish is highly preferred to effectively lead a diverse workforce.
