Job descriptionJob Title Registered Nurse - Pediatrics Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse specializing in Pediatrics for a 13-week contract assignment in a prominent children's hospital in Dayton, Ohio. This role offers an opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered care to infants, children, and adolescents within a dynamic and supportive environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for a diverse pediatric patient population. This includes collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, administering medications, monitoring patient progress, and providing essential education and support to patients and their families. Key Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients, including infants, children, and adolescents, across various medical conditions. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes. Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as prescribed by physicians, ensuring patient safety and adherence to protocols. Monitor and document vital signs, patient symptoms, and responses to interventions accurately and promptly. Collaborate effectively with physicians, specialists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care. Educate patients and their families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medication administration, and discharge instructions. Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and child-friendly environment, adhering to all hospital policies and regulatory standards. Respond to emergency situations and provide critical care interventions as needed. Required Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license. Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in a Pediatric setting. Proficiency in pediatric assessment and age-appropriate care. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Certifications such as Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) or Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN). Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems. Skills & Competencies Clinical Skills: Pediatric assessment, IV insertion, medication administration (oral, IV, IM), wound care, pain management, basic life support, advanced cardiac life support (PALS). Equipment Proficiency: Infusion pumps, cardiac monitors, oxygen delivery systems, nebulizers. Soft Skills: Excellent communication, empathy, critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, adaptability, strong organizational skills, ability to work effectively with children and families.
