Opportunity:
Pharmacy Tech
Job Details:
• Must have worked in a hospital within the last 5 years• Complete a variety of department tasks and services for daily pharmacy operations
• Work under supervision of Director of Pharmacy or pharmacist on duty during shift
• 8-week assignment duration
• Pick up drug orders at nursing stations and prepare medications under pharmacist supervision
• Deliver appropriate quantities of medication to correct patient areas
• Assist with accurate billing and crediting of patient medications
• Maintain drugs in pharmacy according to Drug Formulary and policy including ordering, receiving, and storage
• Monitor doses administered according to Medication Administration Record on narcotics sign-out record
• Fill medication boxes with appropriate supply using unit dose system
• Replace stock items on routine basis according to policy
• Perform sterile and non-sterile compounding with compliance to USP 795, 797, and 800
• Transfer medications from ampules and vials to sterile syringes and IV bags using aseptic techniques
• Add measured drugs or nutrients to intravenous solutions under sterile conditions
• Conduct monthly inspections of patient care units and pharmacy areas
• Participate in semi-annual pharmacy inventory
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required
• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification required if mandated by state
• License/Registration required if mandated by state
• Previous inpatient healthcare experience required
