Pharmacy Technician - Main Hospital

Location: Charleston, South Carolina (Onsite)

Employment Type: Permanent

Role Overview

We are seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join a hospital pharmacy team. In this role, you will assist registered pharmacists with the support activities and processes required to dispense medical prescriptions. This position involves performing day-to-day technician duties that are critical to patient care within the entire hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Under the supervision of a pharmacist, fill routine orders for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals.
  • Collect, input, and verify prescription, refill, and patient information.
  • Prepare small IVs and perform related duties as directed.
  • Receive and stock incoming pharmacy supplies.
  • Prepare labels for medication orders.
  • Perform clerical duties related to the department as needed.
Required Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience: At least one year of experience is preferred. Candidates with experience in a hospital setting or a strong desire to start a career in hospital pharmacy are encouraged to apply. A history of good employment and professional relationships is required.

Certifications & Licensure:

  • Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the State of South Carolina Board of Pharmacy (SCBOP) is required.
  • National Technician Certification (PTCB or ExCPT) is required, or the candidate must be on track to receive it. New hires must obtain certification within six months of hire.

Work Schedule: Must be able to work the 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM shift and be available for occasional weekends.

Preferred Qualifications
  • IV certification is a plus.
  • Ability to work multiple shifts, including 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM and 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM.
Compensation & Benefits

This position offers an annual salary range of $50,000 to $56,160. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available, distributed in two installments. The role includes opportunities for overtime and incentivized shift pay. A comprehensive benefits package is provided.
