Job description

Assistant Hospital Manager

At Ingleside Animal Hospital, you will work in a modern, spacious, AAHA-accredited hospital that takes pride in practicing high-quality medicine and supporting the people who deliver it. You will have access to well-maintained equipment including digital radiography, ultrasound, flexible and rigid endoscopy, therapeutic laser, and a fully equipped in-house lab. Medical records are completely paperless through Impromed Infinity, helping keep communication clear and efficient. The hospital follows Fear Free and Feline Friendly principles and consistently exceeds AAHA standards to support patient care and client trust. You will join a collaborative team where communication and teamwork are part of daily operations. Doctors regularly consult with one another on cases, and the entire hospital team works together to provide consistent, thoughtful care. New team members are supported with mentorship and structured training that allows you to grow at a steady, supported pace. Clinical standards are clearly defined and followed across the hospital, including required surgical bloodwork, IV catheterization and fluids, full dental radiographs, consistent pain management, and radiographs reviewed by a board-certified radiologist. You will benefit from a schedule designed to support work-life balance, along with leadership that values input from the team. Regular doctor, staff, and management meetings help ensure concerns are addressed and improvements are made thoughtfully. You will work alongside a fully staffed team of certified technicians, skilled assistants, customer service representatives, and kennel staff, allowing everyone to focus on doing their job well. Competitive compensation and benefits are offered, including health and dental insurance, continuing education support, professional dues, and liability coverage.

Reporting to the Hospital Manager, you will serve as a key leader in our fast-paced, multi-doctor veterinary hospital. As the Assistant Hospital Manager, you will partner with the Hospital Manager to drive operational efficiency and team development. You will assist with essential HR functionsincluding hiring, training, and performance managementwhile ensuring compliance with policies that support a safe and efficient hospital environment. In this role, you act as a visible leader, balancing administrative tasks with client relations and team support.

Your impact will include:

  • Team Leadership: You will partner with the Hospital Manager to address staffing needs, including hiring, training, reviewing, and coaching staff. You will serve as a visible leader and point of support for technicians, CSRs, and support staff.
  • Operational Flow: You will monitor daily schedules, appointment flow, and staffing coverage to ensure the hospital runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Conflict Resolution: You will proactively address and work to resolve employee conflict and behavioral issues, fostering a positive team environment.
  • Financial Management: You will manage the financial needs of the hospital by maintaining accurate balances through the collection of client transactions, strict cash/credit handling procedures, and managing opening/closing protocols.
  • Client Experience: You will maintain a positive attitude in all interactions, proactively demonstrating empathy towards clients and treating pets with compassion and respect.
  • Systems & Records: You will utilize hospital computer systems to document medical records accurately and communicate effectively with clients and teammates.

What you'll bring to the team:

  • 13 years of leadership or supervisory experience is required (veterinary or healthcare experience is preferred).
  • Excellent communication and conflict management skills.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience leading a diverse workforce and establishing a positive team culture.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including some holidays and weekends.
