A refined Executive couple in Wesley Heights, Washington, DC is seeking a wonderful, experienced Housekeeper to join their home. This is an excellent opportunity for a polished, proactive, and detail-oriented professional who takes pride in maintaining a beautifully kept home and enjoys working independently with minimal supervision.

About the Role

The family is looking for a dependable professional to manage daily household cleaning, laundry, light meal preparation, organization, errands, and general household support. The current housekeeper is retiring and will remain involved with dog care, making this a thoughtful transition into a well-run home.

There is a twice monthly team that offers deep cleaning support.

Responsibilities

• General household cleaning and daily upkeep
• Laundry and ironing, including sheets and household linens
• Maintaining existing organizing systems throughout the home
• Cleaning and organizing the refrigerator, including removing expired items
• Light evening meal preparation and simple cooking, such as muffins, pasta, salads, and basic prep work
• Household errands, including grocery shopping and post office runs
• Coordinating with and overseeing vendors as needed
• Helping maintain a thoughtful cleaning schedule in collaboration with the principal

Ideal Candidate

• 5+ years of experience as a Housekeeper in a fine home
• Excellent verifiable references
• Sound knowledge on proper care protocols with the ability to care for antiques, artwork, crystal, fine china, silver, brass, marble, fine linens, and cookware, etc.
• Sound knowledge of laundry and linen care including ironing, steaming, folding, stain removal, handwashing, and managing dry cleaning.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• A true self-starter who can work independently and anticipate household needs
• Experienced in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and household presentation
• Comfortable building and following a cleaning schedule
• Enjoys cooking or assisting with light meal preparation
• Comfortable around small dogs
• Excellent communication skills in English
• Professional, discreet, and respectful of the family’s routines and preferences

Schedule

Monday through Friday, with a later morning start preferred. The family is considering approximately 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. or 11:00 a.m.–7:00/7:30 p.m., with some flexibility as needed. Mrs. Lehr travels frequently, and the ideal candidate would be open to occasional overnights with the dogs when she is away.

Compensation and Benefits

• Compensation is $45–$55 per hour, depending on experience
• Benefits package will be shared with qualified candidates
