Description
Responsible for coordinating, supervising all functions in the Clinical Laboratory including staffing, training, and budgeting. Responsible for meeting and maintaining COLA Accreditation, CLIA and State Regulations. Responsible for recognizing results or problems that require referral to the Pathologist. Maintain an active continuing education program. Maintain spirit of cooperation with Laboratory and other Hospital personnel and supervisors. Follow Laboratory and Hospital safety and infection control policies and procedures. Conduct business as a health care professional. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Minimum of one (1) year of laboratory training or experiences and one (1) year managerial experience in the clinical laboratory of an acute care hospital (in non-waived testing) preferred.
Must participate in team efforts to complete assigned tasks and accomplish departmental goals. Ability to accept responsibility, work independently and prioritize work responsibilities. Demonstrate initiative to learn and develop in the field of Laboratory Medicine, communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
Prefer experience with regulatory and accreditation of laboratory operations.
EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry or Biology.
Current Medicat Technologist licensure in the State of Colorado
Current certification from a National Registry Agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT, HEW, etc.).
BLS Certification
PHYSICAL / MENTAL REQUIREMENTS :
Intermittent movement throughout the hospital
Intermittent bending and kneeling
Ability to lift up to 30% of your body weight.
Ability to read and understand English
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
Ability to interact with physicians, patients, families and staff in a professional manner.
Ability to maintain matters of a confidential nature
Ability to remain calm in crisis situations
