Overview

The Role

We are seeking a dedicated Legal Translator who will be essential in delivering exceptional translation services within the legal sector. This role requires a commitment to aligning with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate various legal documents including letters, reports, website content, posters, brochures, and general information with precision.

• Maintain the integrity, meaning, and tone of the original text in all translations.

• Display cultural sensitivity and ensure clarity in all translations.

• Edit and proofread translations to guarantee accuracy, clarity, and compliance with legal terminology.

• Conduct quality edits and proofs when requested.

• Adhere to established style guides, glossaries, and client preferences.

• Guard the confidentiality and security of all translated materials.

• Stay informed about legal terminology and best practices in the industry.

• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

What You Need

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience (4 years).

• Over 4 years of experience in Albanian translation.

• Certification in Legal Translation or any of the following:

• CTP (Certified Translation Professional).

• ATA (American Translators Association).

• AOC (Administrative Office of the Court).

• Membership in NAJIT (National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators).

• Experience with:

• State Department.

• Refugee services.

• Court or legal settings.

• Familiarity with legal terminology.

• Publishing experience is a plus.

• Must be able to pass a background check and any additional checks required by projects or clients.

Minimum Skills Required:

• Strong problem-solving abilities.

• Exceptional written communication skills.

• Ability to respond quickly and effectively to client inquiries.

• Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Skilled in building relationships both individually and in teams.

• Ability to work independently while also collaborating with a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a foreign language, linguistics, or related field.

Reports to: Program Manager

Working Conditions

• This position is on-call as needed, with potential job notifications made within 48 hours.

• Legal translation services will primarily occur within Washington State.

• Candidates must be physically and mentally prepared to fulfill extended work periods.

• A flexible schedule is required, which may include holidays and hours outside normal business times.
