Position Purpose

The Long Term Substitute Instructor works under the supervision of the Academic Dean to provide support and encourage student learning in the event that a classroom instructor is unable to lead class for an extended and continuous period of time.

Job Duties

• Upholds CEC's beliefs found on the CEC website.
• Follows lesson plans provided by the classroom instructor to support a consistent and continuing learning experience for students.
• Effectively manages the classroom to encourage student participation, to minimize distractions, and to maintain a positive learning environment.
• Logs daily student attendance into IC for each class as required in CEC policies.
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to student and small group learning by ensuring student conduct conforms with CEC's Student and Family Handbook and CEC policies.
• Participates in professional development as requested by the Academic Dean.
• Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• Experience working with students preferred
• Experience teaching middle school mathematics

Conditions of Employment
