The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) plays a crucial role in our Medical Affairs division, as part of an exclusive team of medical experts engaging with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and local healthcare professionals. The MSL is responsible for educating customers and sales teams about our products' properties, virtues, and limitations while also relaying scientific insights to our internal teams. The specific title, MSL or Senior MSL, will be based on the candidate's experience level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and cultivate strong relationships with the medical community on behalf of Bausch + Lomb.
- Deliver timely KOL insights to the medical affairs team.
- Ensure KOL speakers are well-trained and have access to current Bausch + Lomb data and approved materials.
- Facilitate peer-to-peer interactions and medical presentations.
- Be knowledgeable in the therapeutic areas relevant to Bausch + Lomb.
- Establish connections with local thought leaders (physicians, pharmacists, and nurses) who influence practice standards.
- Identify unsolicited requests for investigator-initiated research.
- Provide comprehensive medical/scientific support through the distribution of approved educational and clinical information about diseases and treatments.
- Address unsolicited off-label information requests when appropriate.
- Process Medical Information requests via the correct channels.
- Represent Bausch + Lomb at educational events, medical meetings, and conventions as appropriate.
- Comply with all pertinent policies, including U.S. Medical Science Liaison policies and standard operating procedures related to clinical trials and professional information requests.
Qualifications:
- Doctorate-level degree (e.g., PhD, PharmD, OD, or MD).
- 2 years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison in Eye Care or 2 years of clinical experience in optometry/eye care.
- Compliant with all relevant policies and procedures.
- Self-motivated and positive, demonstrating the initiative to achieve goals independently and collaboratively.
- Expertise in drug information communication.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements related to MSL activities.
- Strong relationship-building capabilities.
- Administrative management skills.
- Team-oriented with the ability to work harmoniously with others.
- Solid product and technical knowledge in eye care.
- Established relationships with regional KOLs or key customers are highly desirable.
- A valid driver’s license in good standing.
Working Conditions: This role operates from a home office, with up to 75% travel required within designated areas.
