Logistics Specialist

  • Accurately receive and inspect all inbound deliveries, meticulously documenting incoming goods within the inventory system. Conduct routine cycle counts and participate in full-scale inventory audits to uphold data accuracy and integrity;
  • Execute all data entry tasks for inventory transactions, system updates, and reconciliations using GSD's inventory management software;
  • Assist with various procurement activities, including the organization of purchase requests and acting as a liaison for supplier communications;
  • Prepare and stage shipments by handling packaging, labeling, and coordinating with the Transport team;
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and secure warehouse environment, ensuring all safety protocols are followed;
  • Proactively track and report inventory discrepancies and low stock levels to the Logistics Inventory Manager;
  • Coordinate inventory management across different regions and on the vessel MV DAWN to ensure balanced stock levels and product quality are maintained;
  • Support asset tagging, inventory audits, and the proper disposal of obsolete stock;
  • Create, maintain, and implement policies governing the use of all department vehicles and transport equipment;
  • Directly impact the department's operational efficiency and readiness, ensuring timely and effective response capabilities;
  • Model and champion GSD's core values of accountability, humility, and integrity in all professional conduct;
  • Promote responsible stewardship of financial and other resources to maximize benefit for those impacted by or at risk of disaster;
  • Perform other assigned duties as assigned.

    • Qualifications :

  • Three (3) or more years of experience in logistics, warehouse operations, or inventory management, and;
  • Familiarity with inventory software and data entry processes.

    • Education :

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree or coursework in supply chain or logistics preferred; or
  • Equivalent combination of experience and training.

    • Professional Licenses / Certifications :

  • Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain);
  • OSHA or warehouse safety training is a plus.

    • Knowledge / Skills :

  • Basic understanding of inventory management principles;
  • Attention to detail with strong organizational and data entry skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment;
  • Confident and effective written and verbal communication, to include presentation ability;
  • Cultural awareness and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide array of stakeholders to build relationships;
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and OSHA procedures;
  • Ability and motivation to learn industry specific skills;
  • Successful implementation of business management principles, organization structure, workflow, and operating procedures;
  • Knowledge of inventory accounting principles to ensure accurate financial reporting of stock levels, valuation, and cost allocation;
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a consistent basis;
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to rapidly shift tasks;
  • Experience working and / or traveling domestically and internationally; and
  • Working knowledge of Spanish and / or French desired.

    • Working Conditions and Physical Requirements :

  • At this time, GSD is not offering sponsorship and is only accepting applications from persons eligible to work in the United States;
  • Routine domestic and international travel up to 40% is required.

    Working Conditions During Non-Deployment Periods :

  • Work is performed in an office setting and is generally sedentary, but may involve movement (e.g., walking, standing or otherwise being mobile throughout the office) for brief periods of time;
  • Ability to use hands, reach, and independently lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects;
  • Ability to bend and stoop;
  • Ability to sit and view a computer screen for extended periods of time;
  • Ability to demonstrate manual dexterity to operate computer and other office equipment;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.

    • Working Conditions During Deployment Periods (Including Rapid Response) :

  • May be regularly exposed to and required to work in varying outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold, heavy rainfall, and other extreme weather events;
  • May be required to engage in irregular travel and / or work schedules, which may include extended hours exceeding 8 or 12 hours in a day for prolonged periods outside of the control of the individual;
  • While wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) which is required and provided by GSD :
  • Work may be conducted near moving mechanical parts, which could include exposure to loud noises;
  • Work may be conducted near and include potential exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals; or
  • Work may be conducted in areas that include exposure to the risk of electrical shock or vibration.
  • Ability to obtain necessary travel documents and fulfill any other travel requirements (including an active passport, visa requirements, vaccinations, etc.);
  • This role may include deployments to support natural disaster response efforts within hazardous, dynamic, and unstable environments (economically / environmentally) in pre- and post- disaster scenarios, which could include, among other conditions : lack of access to medical care, exposure to critical incidents (including severe injury, death, traumatic encounters, and / or mental strain), and uncommon sleeping arrangements (i.e. not in a hotel, could include close living quarters and cohabitation);
