Job descriptionPhysical Therapist - Inpatient Physical Therapist - Inpatient Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapist to join our inpatient rehabilitation team at a community-based hospital, a Level III Trauma Center and Level I Teaching facility. This role focuses on providing comprehensive physical therapy services to a diverse patient population, including adults, adolescents, and geriatrics. As an integral part of the interdisciplinary team, you will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. The caseload includes a variety of diagnoses, such as falls, CVA, trauma, and post-operative conditions, with a focus on total joint replacements with same-day discharge. The daily schedule involves managing approximately 8 cases, ensuring high-quality patient care and optimal outcomes. Key Responsibilities Evaluate patients' physical condition, including range of motion, strength, and functional abilities. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient assessments and goals. Provide therapeutic interventions to improve mobility, strength, and functional independence. Educate patients and their families on home exercise programs and injury prevention strategies. Document patient progress and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team. Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of best practices. Focus on total joint replacements with same-day discharge, with the last evaluation starting at 5:00 PM. Required Qualifications Minimum of 1 year of acute inpatient experience. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption. Preferred Qualifications Community Hospital Experience Skills & Competencies Proficiency in acute care physical therapy techniques. Experience in outpatient clinic and rehabilitation hospital settings. Knowledge of body mechanics and ergonomic principles. Expertise in treating conditions such as cervicalgia, low back pain, and spinal conditions. Experience with post-operative rehabilitation, including cervical, shoulder, and spinal surgeries. Competence in total hip and knee replacement rehabilitation. Familiarity with cognitive disorders, Parkinson's disease, and post-stroke rehabilitation. Experience in spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury rehabilitation. Ability to develop and instruct home exercise programs. Strong patient and family education skills. Proficiency in Cerner charting system. Shift Details Assignment Dates: 2026-06-15 to 2026-09-14 Shift Type: Day Shift Duration: 8 hours Days per Week: 5 Contract Length: 13 weeks Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM Schedule: Choose Monday-Friday OR Tuesday-Saturday Weekend Requirement: Yes, 2 weekend shifts per month. On-Call Requirement: No Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week (facility is allowed to call off 3 times throughout the 13-week assignment) Licensing Requirements Valid Physical Therapist license in the state of New Mexico (NM license can pend at time of submission).
